Katy Perry Reveals Her Hit Single That She Has Trouble Singing

Even Katy Perry has a hard time singing of her music, particularly "Firework," as the country heard her reveal during a recent episode of American Idol.

During the latest episode of the singing competition, Perry comes face-to-face with an aspiring country singer by the name of Kenedee Rittenhouse. Even though she helms from the same hometown as Carrie Underwood and caught their attention, she didn't necessarily impress them with her vocals. In an attempt to quickly change their minds, Rittenhouse pivoted her plea towards Perry.

"I know you don't look for excuses, but I go places and I sing 'Firework,' it's like my favorite song ever," Kenedee said. That's the moment that Perry made the revelation. "Sing 'Firework' because I can barely sing 'Firework'; Just sing the chorus, because that's the hardest part," Perry replied and Kenedee went on to (mostly) hit the rest of her audition out of the park.

It's one of the many viral moments that have come out of the show's first few episodes, but it doesn't seem like the ABC reboot of the iconic show is doing too much in the rating department. According to Variety, Idol slipped slightly in the Nielsen overnight numbers from last Monday, averaging a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers. For those that aren't good at math, that's an approximate 11% drop in the demo and an 8% drop in total viewership from last week. In comparison, The Voice held a stronghold over Idol, averaging a 2.3 and 10.7 million viewers for the night. Those figures scored the title of the most-watched show on Monday primetime. Let's see how the remainder of the season unravels for American Idol, but at this moment, it's not looking so spectacular.
